Dr. Mushquash and her team are leading the implementation and evaluation of the JoyPopTM app as a tool to support coping and emotion regulation.
More information about the JoyPop app can be found here:
The JoyPop™ app was developed through consultation and collaboration with youth, researchers, and services providers (health, mental health, child welfare/youth protection, Indigenous services). Youth involved in various groups or organizations (e.g., Victim Services Toronto; Ontario Associations of Children’s Aid Society; Dilico Anishinabek Family Care) have informed the initial development and ongoing evolution of the app.
The JoyPop™ app incorporates evidence-based features to promote resilience and coping by learning about and practicing various emotion regulation strategies. Features include mood ratings and tracking over time, journaling, art, games, breathing exercises, sleep tips and sounds, and connection to support networks. More information about the features of the app can be found in this JoyPop™ video.
More information about the early development and evolution of the app can be found in the JoyPop™ eBook.
